a little setback

I really was a fan of this print I had pretty far along, but then I realized that I had it wrong. Based on the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand...he did it with five loaves and two fish, not vice versa. I reluctantly started over. It will still look good. Just a little behind.

school makes me bananas

I am very much missing this right now. School is crazy. America is so fast paced, and it does not help being a college student.
I love to learn, but I do not love staying up so late all the time.
I have more pictures, but am unsure when I will get them posted.

printmaking shop

I'll be spending lots of time in the printmaking shop, which is definitely fine by me. I just finished a linocut a few days ago. I love it!

My favorite is the unconventional 'D.'

natural history

These are some drawings I did in Door County as thank you's to people who were a help to me while I stayed at Whitefish Dunes.
I met an artist, Hermke Timm, and his wife. They are incredibly friendly and hospitable. They have a business in Chicago that makes a lot of coins. Some coins they even make for the White House. Now Hermke is retired, and he spends his days doing art. His studio is amazing. And the work he does is wonderful...very unique in style. I think I like it because of its illustrative quality.

It took me a little bit to get some good c's.

more milwaukee

I have never been to this 'Water Buffalo' place, but I love the sign. Everything in its own time.

I have not fallen off the planet either. I have many pictures I could put up except that I am getting ready for school to start. Then, I will have a real schedule and will definitely get my creative juices flowing again.

hamilton type museum

On the way back from Whitefish Dunes I had to stop at the Hamilton Type Museum in Two Rivers. I am so interested in type and printing, so I loved it! They have a huge collection of wood type--1.5 million pieces. They used to be the largest provider of type in the U.S. I read an article about the place on aiga.org a few months ago. It's a lovely place to visit, and admission is free.

whitefish dunes

For the past week I've been doing an artist's residency at Whitefish Dunes State Park. The weather was beautiful for my time there. I hiked/biked all their trails, traveled to the top of Old Baldy, stopped at Cave Point, and went to beach numerous times. I took pictures and did sketches. I have up to a year to donate a piece to the park. Such a nice time.

guitar

For some reason I really like acoustic guitars, and whenever I save some extra money I want to buy one and learn to play.

stephanie barenz at caggio

A friend of mine has a sister who is an artist. I went to her opening at Caggio in Milwaukee. I love her stuff!

a retreat

I found this amazing place in the midst of the city where I can just sit and stare at the beautiful creation. It's like being in the country, which I like on occasion. Calm. Wonderful.

I'm an explorer if it's not obvious. I like to find things.

the letter a

My goal in these upcoming pictures is to find a capital and lowercase for each letter of the alphabet, but then to also find an unintentional example of that letter ... if that makes sense.

hmmm

Sorry no picture today...but I did meet a graphic designer who works for Aurora. He said I should shoot higher in the field rather than settle for designing/editing layouts. I said everyone starts somewhere. He agreed but urged me to consider more. That makes me curious. I scored a definite business card though.

reginald baylor

Reginald Baylor is a Milwaukee native. He uses basic geometric shapes to form his paintings and if you look up close, it is ridiculously intricate and wonderful. His paint is so smooth and immaculate. Love it!

signs

I enjoy how this sign works around the corner. And it's not Helvetica...so they are stepping outside the box. Looks close to Gill Sans.

the skyline

I always like looking at city skylines. There are some important landmarks captured here. The Miller Brewing Company, the Hoan Bridge, the U.S. Bank building, and, of course, Miller Park.

graffiti

I always find graffiti to be quite curious. I saw this on a bench waiting for the bus. My favorite graffiti is the stuff that ends up on the train cars. In a way it's an art.
Bansky is an interesting graffiti artist in the UK. I like some of his work.
